End to a tough Journey, but, I enjoyed it all!

A Buck swimming across the C & D Canal....
Gen searching out...
Artificial Island, Nuclear Plant in Delaware Bay
Pee time......

Rising sun......
This little one followed us along way, its probably the one that scared the shit out of me the other morning....
Morning sailing.....

Miah Maull Lighthouse in Delaware Bay, or Maya Moore-the best UCONN women's BB player...

Relaxing, NOT! Photo shoot.

Well, this is it for now! We made Cape May yesterday, Delaware Bay last night, & the C and D Canal today......the last 48 hrs. have been busy, and we're not killing each other. It sure proves important to communicate on a journey like this and keep a cool head. Our engine died again this morning after leaving our anchorage, Bill thinks we have an obstruction, boy, first the dog, then the boat! ha ha So he'll check it out when we get to the marina. Of course, when you are in the shipping lane, you have to move fast! Thank god I brought him along!
Enjoy all the pics, and thx so much to all our family and friends who helped us along the way! We love and appreciate you all!

All-nighta down the Jersey Coast

Bye bye to Atlantic City, heading to Cape May, Delaware Bay and the C & D Canal. Cape May is where Bill proposed to me 39 years ago. We'll be married at the end of Oct. 37 years. Love you and thank you for these journey's, I know its alot of work.
Inside Atlantic City Mariner fueling up.....
Convention Center where Miss USA is held, not that I care!
Almost a full moon overlooking us along the shoreline:
Skiing? NO, Night sailing....gotta be warm.....
Gorgeous view while Bill repairs our engine....

Oh boy, it was a long one......all was well, I was at the wheel for quite awhile so Bill could rest and do his navigating..I'm going along, 2 AM, oops, no engine, Bill the engine died, gets up calmly, checks filters, replaces them, I hold flashlight, Gen right in the middle of everything has to pee - what a circus, actually we all worked well together, Bill fixes it, gets it started and off we go. But a little scary drifting along out to sea w/no power...I did have beautiful Atlantic City to stir at though...Here are some shots, the moon also was very beautiful....Looks like we're gonna run out of time so we are docking Spirit at Summit North Marina in the C & D Canal......

Hell Gate through to Statue of Liberty

Looking at Battery Park, see the new Freedom Tower?
Freedom Tower going up quickly....
Entering Hell Gate
Gen & I posing, she doesn't want to hear it......

Well we made it through Hell Gate and to the Statue in no time. So many views along the way. I also got to meet and see the Liberty Service crew (Hornbeck, who Bill use to work with and tug he ran) they were anchored in NY harbor along w/many others.

What a beautiful site , winds not real strong, but motoring allowed us to go aside tug and meet everyone, let Bill catch up. Who the hell else has friends out here they can talk too!

Enjoy the pics

Still a long way!

Let's hope the next 4 days are better. We are off and ready to do an all nighta....hope I can stay awake. Minneford was nice to visit, but I wanna go South, too cold up here.
Its a beautiful morning, Gen is better and I hope Bill & I are rested. We have some great friends who really helped us in NY and did get to visit w/some of them. Hope to be singing in the cockpit on the NJ coast tonight. Talk soon!
Here are some pics I took this morning racing to Hell Gate to beat the ebb......

Thursday Visitors - Friday, Vet Day

Bill's new pride & joy that we bought for Spirit while in Oak Bluffs w/Mark & Arlene. This comes out for company only, cuz w/Gen, black dog will end up yellow......I love it!
Ok Kurt hates his pic taken obviously cuz he just won't open his eyes. But Annette, beautiful!Waiting on a taxi to head to the vet with Gen....she is nervous!
Entrance to Marina--

Firstly, Thursday night we had visitors, Kurt & Annette, they live in NY full time, but own at Edgewater. We all went out to dinner at the Black Whale, which was great and started watching the Yankees, oh boy, sad loss. But great friends and a great time.

Friday, we had to take a taxi to Whitestone, Queens, to have Gen checked out. Xrays, big needle in her bladder and full exam. They think just a UTI, but she had alot of blood, so health first. The vet loved her personality, but said she needs to lose about 3-5 more lbs. (OK, who doesn't)
She is doing better and we are very relieved.
City Island in the Bronx where we are docked is awesome! The town is very quiet, lots of boats, mostly motor and NO fuel dock, which is strange.
So tomorrow morning we head out at 7AM to catch the ebb tide at Hell Gate then past the Statue of Liberty onward to the Jersey coastline, love those Jersey Girls.....ha ha
Having alittle trouble loading pics, so I'll keep trying, if not they will be on FB for all to view.
Thanks for reading!

Good sail up towards NY, staying at City Island tonight, Gen needs some attention I think....city in our sight....be there in 2 hrs.

Motoring the rest of the way, wind died......
DAY 4

OK, so this morning I'm making our bunk, and I get surprised by a freaking bird screaming at me, boy did I scream. Bill was in the head and missed the whole thing. I ran up on deck and stayed there till frostbite set in. Very chilly this morning. Heading to NY, can't wait.

Looks calm hey? NOT
Well, very tough day again, had to anchor out again, hid behind the break wall somewhere 40 miles from NY. Think we're gonna get to a marina and regroup.....been a long 3 days. Time is a ticking, feel bad Bill won't be able to make the Annapolis boat show to meet his hero's. OH well, safety first.....

Finally Long Island Sound, tonight Throgs Head Bridge, wait for the tide at the gate in AM, then NJ coast in the morning....thank god, Not looking like Maryland until early Sunday.....

Day 3

Last night was a long one, we settled in and just drank wine and relaxed, skyped w/Jean & Jerome, then Mark & Arlene.
We ate supper and just plain tried to decide what to do with this weather......NW wind, but 25-30 is alittle rocky.....
Gen is adjusting but we have an issue, which I won't talk about....
