Leaving Barefoot Resort Marina!!!!!

Today is the day, we shoved off at 7:20 am and headed up the ICW through what is called the "Rock Pile", scary, hey! This is the area of the ICW that was man made and dynamite was used to blow a passage right down the middle......yikes......anyway, we are off, most likely going outside for now, their may be a weather change so not sure how long we'll be out there.

Talk soon.....

Love Bill & Carol

DAY 4 - Back in the ICW!!!

Well, we started our day with only a few hours sleep, but we made it to Beaufort to anchor, in a day and 1/2. And that my friends, is awesome. Coming Gen......

This is what Jan made from Genaker for me for Mother's Day.....thank you so much.......I really miss her today.......

THURSDAY it IS!!!

Day is done, and we're still sailing.....
Sunset on the Bay.......

Hi All, well today was a very productive day....we made it all the way up the coast and plan on hitting Long Island Sound early in the AM.....this should get us in Portsmouth, RI by Thursday evening.....we are doing a couple of overnights now, Friday will NOT be nice, blowing Northeast 25-35 and we want to be home by then.....so fingers crossed I stay awake and can help Bill......
See ya all later.....love ya....
P.S. Genaker is all ready asleep in the V-Berth why Bill and I are still sailing....the life of a dog...

Red sky at night, Sailors delight, we'll see, calling for 25 - 35 knots tomorrow, we may have to hug the coast, SHIT!

Day 7 & 8

Wow, we finally made the turn yesterday at Cape May. Because we are so tired from the all-nighta, we'll be anchoring in Delaware Bay, Fly City as I call it, for the night to rest and finish our last leg.

After a great spaghetti dinner, wine and showers, we were beat and in bed at 8

Little Bear Creek Anchor

Great day not for sailing a lot of pitching but traveled 50 miles settling in for the night..
Anchoring was so easy see the video!!

Day 2 Journey #2nd half

So this morning we picked up the anchor at 8:30 mile marker 160, it worked great! Off for another day of motoring to Bellhaven by lunch then decide to keep going, Bill is worried about my tooth or whatever it is that is bothering me, so not sure what we will do!!! Hope to continue on!

Heading into Charleston. BIG

Day 8 to Beaufort, NC

Well this is our favorite place to go to! This Marina is the one that spotted us in 2008 on the cover of Sail Magazine in the block island race. The atmosphere is awesome and it’s a quaint little town. Here is to great sailing today!!!

Happy 4th - To the next chapter

Pics at Charleston City Marina

Day 7 Happy 4th

Today is the 1 year anniversary Genaker died. We are still here in Charleston and made a run to West Marine, big sale going on! I needed new dishes, haha and we needed some sail lube and wiring . It is still 100’ in this state, I love it, Bill not so much.  We had a relaxing day talking with a lot of cruisers! A couple from England who bought their boat in Gibraltar and it was made in Poland, they sailed across the Atlantic and had a great convo with them . In front is a catamaran with a husband an wife with 2 sons, left teaching high school bought a boat and are circumnavigating!! Life is good but sad we can’t get home with the boat this time, but she’ll be there soon.  Until later Happy 4th!

Day 6

So we have decided to stay another night in Charleston...lovely town, Fort Sumpter, nice folks. I am actually concerned about this heat on a boat along the coat with no a/c or more importantly, apparent wind...which would be zero. I put 24 cans of Bud along with 20 lbs of ice in an insulated locker in the cockpit. Just went up for what I thought would be an icy cold one...zero ice and coolish beer. Glad we have refrigeration and freezer. Time to call the dock bitches to bring more ice. The tips are adding up$$. There is a sailboat tied up behind us from Halifax, Nova Scotia bound from the Bahamas to home and crewed by a couple 10 years older than me. Carol met a woman at the laundry room that is the housekeeper on one of the mega yachts here. There are a few. This is called the “mega dock”. It 1500 feet long. Fuel, good water and trash everywhere. Golf carts if you want a lift. Anyway, we are being cautious with this heat. And keeping the beer COLD.

Day 5

OMG. We motored all night NO wind but 95’ temps it was tough. I love warm climates but it will be 105 tomorrow as we head up the SC coast.  We arrived at this beautiful Megayacht Marina, that waited on us hand an foot.  We were so far from the office golf carts picked us up.  Tonight I held a class from onboard and had a great amount of views, which I am thankful for. We are in the AC, hitting our new mattress and dreaming of cooler skies.  Good night all!!

Day 4

Sunset beautiful, sunrise beautiful everything in between was bad. We really got our asses kicked last night with a funky kind of wind. Bill pretty much just stirred to keep us comfortable. We will need a lot more wind to make it to Mass not going our way right now.  Prayers!

Day 3 June 30

So after 48 hours we have just passed abeam of Jacksonville. Without working it out my guess is that we have averaged 4-4.5 knots through it all. The squalls were intense but we managed them well. And today should be easy in that regard. We motored through the night as it was just calm. I expected more sailing and less motoring. And we have burned more fuel than planned as a result. So we will have to go with whatever wind/speed we get until we get balanced again. Until that time any ETAs are just speculation. On the good side we should cross into the great state of Georgia  later today/tonight.
I am really surprised how few marinas have availability.
Just spotted a pod of dolphins. And we are sailing through the local shrimp fleet right now.

Evening

Pic

Saturday Day 2

wow more rain, more rocking and rolling. We are trying to catch up in our sleep and stuff but the weather isn’t cooperating.  We managed showers this morning coffee and breakfast.  It’s been quiet this evening, so Bill will lay down and I’m at the helm. Don’t think my pics came out from yesterday so I’ll try some more today.  Later all!

Day 1 Pics

Day 1

Our trip north started out sweet with a beautiful wind. The day ended with lightening and squally winds. We rounded Cape Canaveral at midnight. Presently motoring up the FL coast looking for a breeze. Had to change a fuel filter this morning. Likely because we got rolled quite a bit and it stirred up bottom sediment in the fuel tank. Passing Jacksonville late tomorrow. Crew is tired but all is well.

Sunday, June 9, 2019

Wow, we have not stopped! Thursday, 6/6/19, we moved aboard. The weather was sweltering like I have never seen. Wow way too much stuff to take Off and put ON. I have been out straight with getting use to Endless, soon to be Spirit so hang in there for pics!!
