DAY 3 - We're Off - Thank God!!!

Beautiful moon off of the Outer Banks.....
Sunrise at Bald Head Is.

Then the seas were above us all day, into the evening.....

Started with fairly calm seas....

Here we come Gen - today is beautiful and the sailing begins, try to catch up later.....love ya all....
We came out of Bald Head Marina under motor, just long enough to catch the wind. It was a close haul, on a starboard tack, winds were 15-20 and seas were 4-6 feet. My first real experience being offshore in some good wind......
What a day for sailing - and burning. We left at 6:00, first light, and didn't stop till we got back to good old Beaufort..but only long enough to sleep for 2 hrs.....we arrived at 4:35 and left at 6:45 AM.....we have to head to the ICW today, the weather is turning to thunderstorms again and we don't want to wait anymore. This is the best part of the ICW though......I have finally relaxed into the boat again, feeling fine, think my ole nerves got to me.
Now, today we saw alot of interesting sea creatures. Cathy, you, would of loved it. Dolphins were all around us all day. Like they wanted to play and tease us into trying to get a picture of them. They are great entertainment. Bill saw a large, and I mean large, sea turtle.(it was so large, it could kick the shit out of RI).....his head kept sticking out of the water, then a sun fish, weird! Next we experienced some flying fish, they are weird also. All of this, and then later, the most beautiful full moon you can imagine.
It was alot of work going outside, every muscle in my body has worked, but it saved us 5 -8 days and that's alot of time.
I'll try to call you all later, we are fine and eating well....Love to you all!!!!
